Mike Murphy
Bio
Since December 2021, Mike has served as President & CEO of The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, the largest chamber in Illinois with approximately 1,400 members. Mike served as State Representative for the 99th District in the Illinois General Assembly he was elected in November of 2018 and re-elected in November of 2020. Mike spent most of his career in the restaurant business working for several different operations. He ended his restaurant career as the owner/operator of Charlie Parker’s Diner.
Mike grew up and attended school in Divernon Illinois. After high school, he joined the US Army from 1973-1976 he worked as an Air Traffic Controller. Mike served ourseas in The Republic of South Korea from 1975-1976. He attended Eastern Illinois University from 1976-1979, majoring in Political Science. Mike received the 2007 Golden Dragon from the Divernon Alumni Association, in 2022 he received the Friend of the County award from the Sangamon County from the Sangamon County High School Principals Association.
Mike and Cindy have been married since 1978 and have two children, a son Bobby (wife Christina) and a daughter Megan (husband Jody Crouch). They have six grandchildren who all live in the area.
