Graduation Plans Pending Lifted Restrictions

This is Darren Root, Superintendent of the Auburn School District. This message is for senior class of 2020. In the coming days you will have reached an incredible milestone in life. Nobody imagined that a pandemic would have taken control of the last quarter of your senior year. That in itself is historic.
No ceremony is more monumental than graduation. The administrative team has been working hard to do everything possible to make sure the class of 2020 is properly recognized. We are all at the mercy of a hierarchy of authority; from the governor, the Sangamon County Department of Public Health, the Illinois State Board of Education and the Regional Office of Education.
It is our hope that we can still hold a traditional graduation ceremony that has honor and tradition; for you deserve it.
I have marked my calendar to hold an in-person graduation ceremony at our football field on Friday, July 10 at 7pm. It is my hope that by then, restrictions have been lifted so we can honor the Auburn High School class of 2020.
