Today’s committee meeting unanimously decided that the responsible thing to do moving forward is to begin school remotely district-wide. We will be fully on-line for at least the first 9 weeks. We will revisit this decision before moving into the 2nd 9 weeks.
Students begin Wednesday, Aug 26.
I know there are a lot of things that need to be worked out and there will be many questions needing answers prior to the start of school. The following topics were decided as a starting point:
• Special education services are unique and may be structured differently.
• This decision has been made outside of athletics. The decision for holding athletics will be made at a different time under the authority of the IHSA. The IESA has already canceled junior high activities for the fall.
• Registrations fees and athletic fees will be addressed or adjusted accordingly.
• Food services will be provided / delivered for students who qualify.
• Technology issues will be addressed, such as hotspots and other accommodations.
• Attendance and grades will need to be recorded and rigor will be expected throughout the district.
This list of bullet points is not complete and many more questions will need answers in the coming days. Please keep in mind that this is temporary and we must come together as a community to address these challenges.
