Graduation Details
July 01, 2020
Thank you for being patient and supportive throughout this long process. I wanted to send you a definitive schedule for next Friday, now that it seems we are on a solid course for the graduation ceremony on July 10th, 2020.
We will not have any kind of rehearsal. I traditionally verbally walk through the ceremony with the students prior, and will share instructions here with you to share with them.
Itinerary:
Graduates need to arrive at the football field by 6:45. We will be meeting near the football locker room to lineup and prepare for the procession. Please arrive in your cap and gowns.
The ceremony will start at 7:00 pm. The program will be posted on the school website to view, download, and print as wanted.
Students will be seated 6 ft apart on the track for the ceremony. At their seat, they will find a large envelope which contains their academic awards and DIPLOMA.
When we come to the individual recognition part of the ceremony the Senior Class President Charlie Jessup will announce each students' name. At this time they will come up to the stage with their diploma, stand center stage, move their tassel, and pose for a graduation picture. There will be a professional photography option for this pose.
Immediate family (parents/siblings) are asked to sit in the home side bleachers while respecting social distancing norms during the ceremony. ** We cannot allow anyone other than the graduates onto the track. **
We will be broadcasting the ceremony live on the school's NFHS Network Channel. Anyone will be able to watch the ceremony free of charge via the website, and then the ceremony will be uploaded to watch in the future. A link to this page will be posted on the High School Website.
Traditionally, we ask students to be "dressed up" while wearing their graduation gowns, but considering the possible heat, we just ask the graduates to be aware of how their gown will look with what they are wearing under it. I strongly suggest taking into consideration the graduates will be walking on grass, up a set of stairs, and across a mobile stage when deciding what shoes they will be wearing.
There will be two different opportunities for professional photography pictures to be taken on the day of graduation. Grussenmeyer Photography will be set up in the high school gym lobby to take formal pictures before the ceremony starting at 5 pm. We are going to schedule time slots based on last names to avoid there being too many students in the building at once. These pictures should be taken in their cap and gown (and I would suggest a very formal outfit for under the gown at this time) with a formal background.
5:00-5:20 - Last name A-E
5:20-5:40 - Last name F-J
5:40-6:00 - Last name K-P
6:00-6:30 - Last name Q-Z
As mentioned above, Grussenmeyer Photography will also take a picture of the graduate on stage with their diploma.
There will be a price/order sheet shared with you as soon as possible.
If you have any further questions please email me with them. I am sure there is a detail I left out, so please ask. I am looking forward to getting the Class of 2020 together one last time to conclude their high school career - see everyone next Friday.
