Yesterday, the Illinois State Board of Education released a 64 page document attempting to give guidance to school districts as we prepare to open our doors this fall. This afternoon the Illinois State Board of Education held a webinar for school officials to answer questions within the document. A link to this document is on the front page of our webpage.
Please know that the guidelines are given for ideal situations. Each school district is set up differently and a lot of discretion has been given to the local school districts. As we navigate through this document, I will continue to communicate realistic expectation.
Please be patient going forward. We do not yet know all of the particular challenges that we are going to face and how we will answer each question. There are some requirements that are questionably enforceable and there are some recommendations that are simply not realistic or contradictory.
If we were to put out rules or regulations now, they would likely change many times before school opens. Know that as we put together our plan, we will always put the interest of our students, our community and our staff first.
Thank you.
