School Message - May 22, 2020
Message 052220
This is Darren Root, Superintendent of the Auburn School District.
This coming week marks the final week of school. The last official student attendance day is Thursday, May 28. It is strange to walk the empty hallways at a time when they are usually buzzing with excitement and anticipation of summer break. It can be difficult to fully grasp that we are all experiencing something so historic that it will be noted for generations to come.
Thank you to all the parents, students and teachers who have worked so hard finding new ways of teaching. Through this experience, we have built a community of teamwork that has ironically brought us together in many ways.
Congratulations to all of our students for accomplishing something that has never been done before. And especially, congratulations to our seniors; the graduating class of 2020! This will be the 28th time I have proudly watched a senior class begin their next chapter. I want nothing more than to shake your hand as you cross the stage. Hopefully, this will happen on July 10 @ 7pm at our football field. Regardless what may come, it will be the most memorable graduating class of all time.
I wish everyone a safe summer and hope that we are able to begin a new school year this August 17th with lifted restrictions and a new appreciation of being and working together.
